Beneath The Rood Of Africa (2017)

When Dr Mark Weston, internationally acclaimed environmentalist, launches a new research project in northern Tanzania, he gets drawn into the corrupt, dangerous and brutal world of ivory poaching, land grabbing and the Chinese triads.

Every year, thousands of adventurers try to climb Kilimanjaro, the iconic ‘Roof of Africa’. But none are aware of what lies lost in a cave on its western slopes or its link with Nazi Germany.

After Weston accidentally discovers the hidden place, he narrowly survives a murder attempt whilst climbing the mountain’s notorious Western Breach, only to discover that his journalist girlfriend has been kidnapped by a ruthless safari operator, determined to get his hands on the cave’s secret.

This debut novel will grip you as it unfolds amongst stunning East African landscapes and game parks rich in charismatic wildlife. You will be immersed in the rhythms of the bush and come face to face with Maasai culture. Confront the real challenges of conservation as Weston and his team investigate how increasing tourism is affecting the environment and the lives of ordinary people.

The Wealth Of The Thirstlands (2019)

Internationally acclaimed environmentalist, Dr Mark Weston, returns. Fresh from battling against ivory poachers in Tanzania, he joins an old friend in Namibia to assess the impacts of developments along the country’s remote Skeleton Coast.

As Weston’s work takes him from one end of the country to the other, inadvertently, he is drawn back into the world of poaching, trafficking of illegal wildlife products and gemstone smuggling. Once again, he uncovers links with a ruthless Chinese criminal gang. After narrowly escaping several attempts to kill him in the emptiness of Namibia’s drylands, Weston secures evidence that will close down the Chinese network, only to find his son has been abducted by the Chinese in Tanzania.

The plot is set in spectacular arid landscapes. It evolves in the Namib desert amongst the largest sand dunes in the world, and across the mopane bush and vast Etosha salt pan of the far north, reaching a dramatic climax in a remote corner of Tanzania’s Serengeti plains.
